WHAT IS YOUR PARADISE?

Before traveling, I had pegged paradise as a certain place. A location which could be pinpointed by a specific combination of latitude and longitude. However, with some experience on the road, I have come to learn that it is not as straight forward as I thought. When I think of paradise, I would automatically think crystal clear turquoise waters which provide as a cool shade to an underworld of sand and marine life. I envision tall coconut palms which are distanced not too far from each other as to provide a basis for hammocks and such magical things. I picture the softest of white sand. Soft enough that it feels like it’s slowly massaging the soles of your feet as you sinky slowly into it’s hold. That is what I thought paradise was. However, I  learned that good company is an aspect of paradise I overlooked and underestimated so blatantly. It is because of certain people that I have met over my past trips, that places become so much more magical. I had not paid attention to the notion that people are as much a part of paradise as breathtaking scenery. The past year has led me to believe that sometimes, all it really is is good food, and even better company. Overall, it’s the marriage and bond of many things that create exactly what paradise is. It could be located within the rough gritty streets of a big city like New York, or on the lush scenic walks upon the endless postcard-ready beaches that dominate South East Asia. Paradise could also be found within the contexts of your own home. Wherever your paradise may be, I wish that you get to visit it frequently and that it alleviates all of the weight that your worldly worries bring, because I believe, everybody deserves a slice…of paradise.
