Field Notes

LOCATION: MY WALLET

One of my favorite aspects of wandering to different countries is noting  key differences in the "everyday" aspects of life. And money, is an almost universal standard that we all share, just in different increments. One of the most common contrasts in conversation with others from around the world is the display of currency amongst different economies. Compared to our formal monochrome green that makes our monetary note recognizable to the naked eye, (although the new hundreds obtain blue faces), it almost feels as if the currencies from all around the world seem comparatively bright and lively with much more aesthetic. These days, I open up my wallet and find more foreign currency than I do US dollars. So I decided to make a collage of some of the notable notes that I found within my stash, showcasing the beauty that graces the often rectangular templates of the very object that is said to make the world “go round”.
